LAND BASED ACTIVITIES

Being a Sea Cadet isn’t just about being on the water.

Adventure training is very popular, with expeditions ranging from hill walking to more challenging treks aimed at testing navigation and endurance skills. You will learn about camp craft; how to pitch a tent and cook outdoors, and some expeditions offer rock climbing, abseiling, mountain biking and kayaking. Another popular activity is shooting, which is conducted on military facilities and supervised by highly skilled Instructors. Cadets learn weapon handling and saftey and get to compete in target shooting competitons througout the UK.

Drill, Piping and Music are traditional naval activities enjoyed by cadets. Sea Cadets often take part in ceremonial events which range from public and military parades, local fetes, carnivals and fundraising events. There are also Drill, Piping and Music competitions and cadets also display thier skill and talents at prestigious public occasions like the annual National Trafalgar Day Parade on Trafalgar Square in London.

As a cadet you can also learn Marine Engineering at BTEC level, First Aid (St Johns Ambulance), Seamanship, Meteorology, Radio Comms and cookery. Speak to your local unit to see what they can offer.
