As a Sea Cadet you will test your talents and stamina and develop new skills to give you a head start in life. You will also get the chance to make new friends and have fun.

You can join Huddersfield Sea Cadets if you are aged between 10 and 18 years old.

As a cadet at Huddersfield Sea Cadets, you will have the opportunity to take part in a wide range of activities - both land based and on the water.

Shooting, first aid, parade/ceremonial training, expedition training, leadership/team building and team sports are just some of the things you can expect to take part in.

Not only that, there are plenty of chances to get out on the water. Whether it's sailing, canoeing, power boating or one of the other waterborne activities we offer!

Most of the subjects our cadets take part in can also be entered at competition level, so you can really put those skills to the test against cadets from other Sea Cadet units!

Junior Cadets 10-12
Being a Junior Sea Cadet is all about taking part in exciting activities, making new friends and of course having loads of fun! Junior Cadets get the best of both worlds! Not only do they have their own training/activities, but they also get to take part in some of the activities that Senior Cadets do too!  Joining the Junior Cadets is easy.  Simply contact the Unit via phone or email to let them know you are coming then turn up and meet the cadets.

Sea Cadets 12-18

Get to grips with subjects both on water and land as part of basic training, all on a nautical theme. You can take part in courses and competitions ranging from diving, sailing and power boating to shooting and first aid. A lot of the courses in the Sea Cadets are externally recognised by national organisations such as the Royal Yachting Association, British Canoe Union and St Johns Ambulance.  You can meet cadets from all over the country, maybe even other countries, and make fantastic new friends.

To start your journey in Sea Cadets you need to enrol at one of our intake nights. Dates are available on our Parade Times page.  You don't need to book on to the intake but if you have questions about the evening you can contact the Unit Training Officer via our email address or contact form.
