Whilst leaving the Commanding Officers role she will be staying on at the unit and taking on the key role of Courses and competitions officer, the unit has developed a great deal over the past 3 years and all are very greatful for all that she has done in particular getting cadets away on the offshore flotilla. Lt Milligan has handed command over to Lt Milligan, and its not the first time this pair have done this, back in 2007 after being in command of Camberley unit for 10 years Lt K Milligan handed over to Lt V Milligan.

Lt K Milligan is looking forward to the challenges of commanding a unit again and is no stranger to the unit having commanded it for 10 months before becoming District Officer (Surrey) and being the training officer for the last year.

HORSHAM SEA CADETS CELEBRATE 156 YEARS!

HORSHAM SEA CADETS CELEBRATE 156 YEARS!

Sea Cadets from Horsham Unit are celebrating the Sea Cadet’s 156th birthday on June 25 and their own 70th anniversary this year!  To celebrate they will be baking a cake from a recipe specially designed by Fiona Cairns, who created the Royal wedding cake for Kate and William, and helping to decorate it to serve to cadets at the unit on the evening.

The Saturdays, James Cracknell, Gary Neville, Helen Skelton, Barney Harwood and Jessie Ware are just some who have voiced their support for Sea Cadets with birthday messages.

We’ve been inspiring and challenging young people through nautical adventure for 156 years and we are thrilled that so many stars have wished us Happy Birthday. Sea Cadets across the country will be baking a specially designed Gala cake recipe courtesy of Fiona Cairns in celebration and stars will be tweeting congratulations throughout the day.

Said Helen Skelton “I love a challenge from time to time but you guys face them daily with pride, passion and perseverance.  What a great organisation.  Big birthday wishes to you all!”
