Unit Summer Camp is a roaring success!
Edinburgh Trinity recently attended the annual Unit Camp at MOD Caledonia, we were joined by Dumfries Cadets also (6). Funding of £250 was received from Sopra Group to assist in the cost of the camp.
We arrived on Sunday 10th July (17 Cadets and 7 members of staff) and settled into our accommodation, preparing for the weeks events.
On the Monday we were off to Lochore Meadows where we split the Cadets into 2 groups, group 1 started with a Windsurfing session and group 2 with a kayaking session. After lunch we switched groups.
On Tuesday we headed off to Fordell Firs Scout Camp, where we spent the day taking part in Climbing, Abseiling, Archery, Jacobs Ladder, Tunneling and an Assault Course. All of the Cadets were suitably muddy after this event.
Tuesday night was a night at the Bowling, time for the Cadets to blow off a bit of steam!
On Wednesday we were off to Boness – from Port Edgar via the sea, where we had a day sail and BBQ.
On Thursday we were off to Burntisland - from Port Edgar in the Power Boats, the Cadets spent the afternoon on the Beach and Fairground before we headed back to Port Edgar.
Thursday evening was Karaoke night. My eardrums are still ringing!
This camp was the ideal opportunity to get Cadets out doing activities they would not normally get a chance to do. All of the Cadets and staff enjoyed themselves and have shown an interest in attending further courses to gain qualifications.
Many thanks go to SCTC Caledonia staff and Edinburgh Trinity staff for helping make the week a success.
