Colchester Sea Cadets Set Sail into 2015!
And we're off!!!!!
That's right folks, the tinsel is down and the Christmas tree is packed away for another year.
And what a year 2014 was. When asked, the Commanding Officer PO (SCC) Elliot Robertson said:
"Whilst 2014 was a very good year for the unit, with Cadets enjoying more waterborne time than ever before and our Advex (Adventure Training) team taking First Place at the District competition, the New Year looks set to be even better, and indeed is already well on track to be our most successful year on record! Some fundamental changes to the way we operate behind the scenes and a focus on adult volunteer development will enable us to deliver an even wider experience to our Cadets! With the unit's growing confidence and capabilities and with plans for a Royal Marine Cadets Detachment to be formed in the next 12 months there simply could not be a better time to join TS Colne Light's ship's company"
2015 offers our cadets plenty of excitement including; advancements, a trip on TS Jack Petchey and TS Royalist, a visit to France and Belgium with the London Area Summer Camp, lots of waterborne, proficiency and specialisation training and plenty of TS Rebel Race training and events such as Ramsgate Week 2015. We also have lots of community events to look forward to including the Classics on the Quay event and Trafalgar Day. The unit also has a Royal Naval Parade this year, so there is plenty to look forward to.
Ordinary Cadet Daniel Estall said:
"I'm looking forward to this year at sea cadets, we are being offered so many opportunities on various exiting courses. I myself have been accepted on Jack Petchey and I personally cannot wait for the opportunity. I am also looking forward to what sounds like a fantastic summer camp in France and Belgium."
