Campbeltown Sea Cadets were formed in 1955 and has previously met in the boatshed and at the old TA hall, ( now demolished). Following the demolition of the TA hall it met for a short period in the Heritage centre which was probably the units most difficult period. In recent years the unit has met in the cadet hall at Hazelburn.
Since 2006 it has rebuilt its small fleet of boats and recommenced boating activities. It has enjoyed some sporting success and in 2010 took back five medals from the Northern Area swimming gala and also participated in the Area five a side football competition. The unit regularly send cadets on Offshore voyages on the Sea cadets offshore training vessels and in 2010 cadets undertook voyages on the west coast of scotland and on the south coast of England.
A range of training is delivered at the unit including, First Aid, Seamanship and Cook/Steward. Cadets regularly undertake training at Area and national venues.Recently cadets from the unit attended a sub-aqua diving course in Liverpool accompanied by one of our instructors. They also regularly take part in cermonial events the most notable recently being the last visit to the town by HMS Campbeltown where cadets paraded alongside the Royal Navy contingent and the Armed Forces Day parade in Lochgilhead on the 18th June 2011.
