As a Sea Cadet you will test your talents and stamina and develop new skills to give you a head start in life. You will also get the chance to make new friends and have fun.

At Burnham Sea Cadets we are very lucky to have direct access on to watersports, meaning that during the summer months we spend lots of time participating in waterborne activities such as canoeing, kayaking, rowing, sailing and power boating.

Junior Cadets 10-12

This is about having fun and making friends. You'll take part in lots of events and activities like sailing, canoeing and abseiling, plus learn about first aid and communications.  Want more information, get in touch now!

Sea Cadets 12-18

Get to grips with subjects both on water and land as part of basic training, all on a nautical theme. You can take part in courses and competitions ranging from rock climbing and shooting to music, power boating and sailing. These can give you a head start in life and boost your confidence, plus it's good fun. Want more information, contact us.


Work with cadets across lots of activities that you can gain new skills in too. With a mix of uniformed and non uniformed roles there is something for everyone. We follow follow a rank structure aligned to the Royal Navy and the Royal Marines.

Unit assistants

Be the backbone of your unit helping out in lots of ways from mini-bus driver to painter and decorator.

Unit Management Team (UMT)

Each unit is an independent charity with the trustees with roles like: chair, company secretary and treasurer. You'll be part of a team that fundraise for and manage the unit.


Sea Cadets is open to all and embraces all faiths.  Working alongside young people and volunteers, our chaplains offer support to cadets and volunteers as they embrace new challenges. Throughout the Sea Cadets, chaplains appointed from clergy, lay readers and others with an authorised ministry work with units to provide moral and pastoral support.
