About Our Unit

Juniors - Aged 10-12.  Parades on Thursdays only between 1915 - 2130

If you're aged 10-12, then we'd love to welcome you into the Junior Section.

We have loads of fun and participate in so many activities that it's difficult to list them all.  The training is centred around projects which vary from building models and studying the environment, to using semaphore and bandaging one of the instructors (though not necessarily at the same time)! Then there are plenty of activities to have a go at such as sailing, canoeing and other water sports. We often have the opportunity to visit some Royal Navy ships and different places of interest, as well as other Sea Cadet Units.

Once a year Juniors hold their National Camp where you will meet Junior Cadets from all over the country and have a really great week forging new friendships. We organise visits to different places and go swimming, abseiling, badge making, sailing, power boating, competitions and even an 'It’s A Knockout' competition.  We have a special dinner with VIP guests and finish the whole week off with a disco.

So, don’t stand on the sidelines and watch, come and join us, you never know, you might enjoy it!!!

Seniors - Aged 13-18.  Parades on Mondays & Thursdays between 1915 - 2130

Cadets start with the basic syllabus learning about life skills and general knowledge including the history and the traditions of the Sea Cadets and the Royal Navy.
Topics you can expect to learn during basic training include: Parade training, Fire prevention, Ship's routine, Basic seamanship and boatwork, Physical training, First Aid, Safety within the Unit.

A wide variety of other subjects are also available, both on the water and on dry land. All Cadets learn about the Royal Navy, Merchant Navy and other sea services. All sorts of courses are available including rock climbing and shooting, IT and communications, music and cook/steward and marine engineering and mechanics. While some subjects are taught in the local Units, others involve courses at our training centres, which are across the country.

Sea Cadets also work towards qualifications in a variety of physical and practical subjects including: Swimming, Climbing and abseiling, Diving, Meteorology, Marksmanship and Music

There is no limit to what you might achieve. Most offshore training can be credited towards maritime qualifications including, once you are 18 years old, the coveted Yachtmaster award.

If you're aged 12-18 and like the look of the activities we have to offer, we'd love to meet you.

Bromley Marine Cadets - Aged 13-18. Parades on Mondays & Thursdays between 1915 - 2130

TS Narvik is proud to have its own Marine Cadet detachment which parades at TS Narvik with the Sea Cadets.

Join us to learn the combat skills of camouflage and concealment, go on night patrols to reach a rendezvous point with a map and compass and learn to handle the firepower of the UK's Armed Forces personal weapon - the SA80 L98A2.

And to really impress your friends, there’s a bonus in store, for when you change out of your combat kit, for parades and ceremonial occasions, you’ll wear the famous "blues" – the best uniform of the Royal Marines.

After a few weeks of attendance wearing "civvies", you will be given a "working uniform" - the latest Soldier 95 DPM lightweights. In the first 6-10 weeks of Recruit Training, you will learn the basics which includes the background and the history of the regular Royal Marine service and its structure, basic drill and self discipline. Once this initial training is complete and you pass the Recruit Exam, you will be awarded the Blue Beret and then progress to the next level of training which includes map reading, parade drill, field craft, and weapons training which will further your knowledge and responsibilities.
