Cadets

As a Sea Cadet you will test your talents and stamina and develop new skills to give you a head start in life. You will also get the chance to make new friends and have fun.

You can join us as a cadet if you are 10-18. Visit the main Sea Cadet site to see a full range of what's on offer.

Bideford & District Sea Cadet unit offers cadets the opportunity to participate in a wide range of activites including...

 - Sailing, Powerboating, Pulling, Seamanship Skills, Swimming and Offshore Sailing

 - Expedition Training, Camping, Meteorology, First Aid, Chartwork, Communications and Cook/Steward

 - Visits to Naval Vessels and Bases, Drill and Parades

 - Gaining qualifications such as BTEC Public Service, Duke of Edinburgh and RYA certificates

 - Social Activities such as BBQs, Discos and Bowling

 - Competitions and Awards

Junior Cadets 10-12

This is about having fun and making friends. Bideford and District Sea Cadets have a very enthusiastic junior cadet division. You will be able to take part in lots of events and activities like sailing, hiking, shooting, parades and trips away, plus learn a specialisation such as first aid, cook stewards and communications. You will have the opportunity to obtain Sea Cadet qualifications and may win an individual or division award.  

Senior Cadets 12-18

Get to grips with subjects both on water and land as part of basic training, all on a nautical theme. Learn to work as part of a team as well as individually. Gain experience and knowledge, earning promotion and learning how to instruct and supervise more junior cadets. You can take part in courses and competitions ranging from shooting to music, power boating and sailing. Travel to other sea cadet units, naval bases and ships and meet cadets from all over the world. All of this will give you a head start in life, boost your confidence and you will make some good friends. Plus it's great fun!
