Jubilee Garden Party on Tuesday 5th June 2012 2pm to 5pm

A Jubilee Garden Party will be held from 2pm to 5pm on the green at St Pauls Church in Sticklepath. We will be manning a stall at the location, trying to recruit some new cadets.

There will be cream teas, themed games and activities. Hands on Creativity and lots of Demo's. Come along and see us

Sailing at Chivenor 19th and 20th May 2012

Sailing will take place at RMB Chivenor watersports centre on Saturday and Sunday.

Meet at unit at 1530 hours on Saturday and 1615 hours on Sunday, boating on both days is likely to take place until about 2000 hours to 2030 hours.

Rig will be boating gear, you are strongly advised to bring a wet suit, you will need spare warm clothing, a towel and bottle of water. You can also bring snacks if you wish.

We will be taking our new bosun and toppers out on the water this weekend.

Swimming Tests Saturday 19/05/2012

Sea Cadet swimming tests will take place this Saturday morning at Barnstaple Leisure Centre. We will meet at 1100 hours outside the leisure centre

You will need to bring swimwear and a set of pygamas or similar to wear for the test. The cost of entry to the swimming pool is £2.40.

You need to complete the swimming test before you can take part in any boating activities. Those who have not completed the test are strongly advised to attend this session.

Yeovilton Air Day Saturday 23rd June 2012

We will be attending the Yeovilton Air Day on 23rd June 2012. The rig will be civvies (unit hoodies optional). If you have never been to an air show and you like the sound of fast jets and explosions, this trip is one you should go on. The air day is great fun, there are lots of attractions to see.

Cost £9.00 (fuel and entry). Bring a packed lunch and water!!

Unit camping and sailing 28th and 29th July 2012

We will be holding a unit camp at RMB Chivenor on 28th and 29th June 2012. We will be pitching camp on the Friday evening. On the Saturday we will be sailing and doing one or two other activities. We will camp saturday night and sail on Sunday.

Meals will be taken using the Pay as you dine system at RMB Chivenor.

The only cost for this trip will be the Pay as you dine. See staff for a T1

Adventure Camping at Dartington Hall 16th and 17th June 2012

We will be holding a camping expedition at Dartington Hall on the 16th and 17th June. We will be pitching camp in the grounds of the school on the Friday evening. On the Saturday we will be taking part in alsorts of adventure activities, including climbing, zipline and archery. We will camp on the Saturday night.

On Sunday morning we will be striking camp and attend the district regatta in Exeter, then make our way home.

The cost for this trip will be £30.

Those who have been on these trips before will tell you how great they are. Its well worth going and we can support our team in the district regatta at Exeter Quay.

Street Collection Saturday 5th May 2012

Please can as many cadets as possible please attend this event as we need all the funds that we can get.

Collection will be in Barnstaple Town Centre from 1000 hours to 1400 hours.

Rig will be No 4's and Juniors Uniform

We will meet at the unit at 0945 hours

Jetty and Berth Clearance 28th April 2012

To All the Cadets, Parents and Staff,

A very big thankyou and well done to everyone who helped with the jetty today, it is looking 100% better and will make our boating experience this year much better. I think some of the staff and parents enjoyed getting as muddy as the cadets. Once a BIG thankyou and WELL DONE.

Have you been on the Naval Acquaint course

To All Cadets,

Have you been on the Naval Acquaint Course at HMS Raleigh?  If not, why dont you get together with a few oppo's and go on the course.

There is currently a course open from 21st to 26th October, which you can go on.

During the week the you will  get the opportunity to run the assault course, carry out sea survival drills in the swimming pool and partake in fire fighting and ship damage control evolutions run by the Royal Navy. There will be the opportunity to visit an RN Warship and go afloat to conduct harbour training. These are great activities for everyone, especially those who have never been away from home before. By the end of the week you may have the opportunity to achieve Heartstart First Aid, Campcraft & Swim Test.

Training Programme April 2012

Third Class Marine Engineering Course 17th and 24th March 2012

Padre will be running a third class marine engineering course on Saturday 17th March and Saturday 24th March 2012.

The course will run from 0900 hours to 1700 hours on each Saturday

Dress will be number 4's and overalls if you have them

Cost for the course is £5 per cadet.

Remember to bring a packed lunch

As many cadets as possible are encouraged to come along to this course, you will find that a basic understanding how engines work will save you thousands of pounds when you are old enough (and rich enough) to own a car - this course will be a great benefit to you.

Make sure you confirm that you are coming along.

District Drill Competition 20th to 22nd January - HMS Raleigh

The disctrict drill competition is soon going to be with us, you need to work on your kit to make sure it is 'top drawer' especially your boots, if you need advice on how to bull your boots, speak to a member of staff
