Sheffield Sea Cadets (known by it's unit name, T.S. Sheffield) is part of a natiowide network of Sea Cadet units which has been giving young people training, skills and experiences on a naval theme since since the first unit was established in 1854 at the seaside town of Whitestable in Kent.

Traditionally old seafarers provided training while local businessmen funded the Unit Headquarters. Today, ex-military and civilian instructors provide cadets with a wide variety of training courses and give cadets the chance to compete in major competitions, go on offshore sailing voyages, represent their unit at parades and much more.

The tradition of community - based Sea Cadet Units continues today with 400 across the UK each with charitable status enabling them to raise funds to meet their running costs. All Units are members of the Sea Cadet Corps and are governed by the national charity MSSC - the Marine Society & Sea Cadets.

Welcome to T.S. Sheffield

We work partnership with the Royal Navy under a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) and receive corporate support from commercial shipping companies and the Maritime sector. Our core purpose is to celebrate Britain's maritime heritage and contribute to its future development by supporting young people as Sea Cadets.

Joining T.S. Sheffield will be one of the best things you ever do. Not only do you gain valuable life skills and go on fantastic journeys, but you also make many great friends and have a lot of fun! To make it even better, joining the Sea Cadets costs a lot less than other youth activities, so there is all the more reason to join us!
