District Junior Shooting Challenge

District Junior Shooting Challenge

Well done to the five cadets from the Unit who entered the first ever Oxon & Bucks District Junior Shooting Challenge on Sunday 4 December. Leading Junior Cadet Searles, Junior Cadets First Class Major and Hardy and Junior Cadets Baker and Cruse all travelled to Abingdon Unit to take part in this Air Rifle Shooting Competition. All the cadets had a fantastic time, competing against all seven of the other Units in the District and completing three more of the modules that make up their training programme.

Results and shooting qualifications to follow.

Google+ page now live

In its 55 year history, Marlow Sea Cadets has not had many world firsts but today it became the first cadet unit worldwide to have a Google+ page! If you are a Google+ user, please visit our page by going to https://plus.google.com/105696602472002549928 (hopefully a shorter link will be available soon) and add us to your circles.

This site sits alongside our existing Facebook page (http://www.facebook.com/MarlowSeaCadets) and our Twitter feed (http://www.twitter.com/marlowscc) as an excellent way of finding out more about what's going on at the unit. Where possible we will try to post different content on all three to keep them all fresh.

PwC Volunteering Excellence Award

PwC Volunteering Excellence Award

Congratulations to the Commanding Officer of the Unit, Lt (SCC) Nick Jones RNR, on receiving a Volunteering Excellence Award from his employers, PricewaterhouseCoopers. This award for Lt Jones' work in the local community was presented by Ian Powell, Chairman and Senior Partner of PwC, at the firm's More London office on Monday 24 October.

In conjunction with this award the firm also donated £3,500 enabling the Unit to start a fund to replace its aging heating system. Richard Royall, Unit Chairman, who also attended the awards ceremony thanked PwC for the donation saying that this award will help maintain our primary source of income from those hiring the hall, freeing up other funds for cadet activities.
