The Marine Society & Sea Cadets

Our role is to provide personal development opportunities and support in a maritime context for young people and professional seafarers from all the sea services.

Charitable Objectives

The principal aims of the charity are to:

  • Promote the development of young people in achieving their physical, intellectual and social potential as individuals and as responsible citizens by the provision of education and leisure time activities using a nautical theme


  • Provide education services to seafarers including:


  • 1. a comprehensive library service (books and other media) for the use of seafarers in ships and on shore


    2. training, payment of fees, maintenance and loans for those preparing for or entering a maritime career


    3. grants and loans that are acceptable at nautical or other training establishments



  • Advance the education of the public in maritime matters


  • Promote scientific or other research of particular benefit to seafarers and the publication of the useful results of such research
