We are based on a former Trinity House lightship, LV16, moored alongside King Edward Quay in Colchester. She is an ideal training environment for Sea Cadets, boasting accomodation for up to 25, classrooms/meeting rooms, a well equipped galley (kitchen), a bar and, of course, washing and toilet facilities.

The ship is available to hire for private or public functions and meetings; having previously hosted the Performing Arts department of Colchester Institute, various musicians (we are reliably informed the ship has excellent accoustics - which vary depending on the state of the tide), council meetings and so on.

We are also delighted to welcome other youth organisations to use our ship for sleepovers and activities.

For further information please do not hesitate to contact us, stating a breif summary of what you would like to use the ship for, a rough number of people that will be attending and the date(s) you require.

Please be aware that we cannot guarantee the date(s) you require being available as our own activities naturally take precedence. We advise you contact us as far in advance as possible to avoid disappointment.

TS Colne Light is happy to assist other youth groups by hosting Training Days in any of our specialisations (for example ropework or sailing) and are  also able to provide Duke of Edinburgh Award assessors for any individual or youth organisation participating at Bronze, Silver or Gold levels.

We can also provide RYA qualified safety boat operators and additional support for any waterborne events you may be organising.

Please contact the Commanding Officer, Executive Officer or Training Officer for details about these opportunities, or anything else you feel we may be able to assist you or your organisation with.
